Arizona State rolls over Washington State

ASU racked up 493 yards of total offense while <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/simpson_tj00.html">T.J. Simpson</a> caught five passes for 90 yards and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/miles_jamal00.html">Ja… Miles</a> had four catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/marshall_cameron00.htm… Marshall</a> and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lewis_deantre00.html">… Lewis</a> rushed for touchdowns as 118 yards were gained on the ground. Quarterback <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/threet_steven00.html">… Threet</a> was 26-32, 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Devils looked impressive in every facet of their game including defense, which held the Cougars to 264 yards.</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils dominated the first half racking up 296 yards of total offense, passing for 237 and rushing for 59. The Sun Devil defense held the Cougars scoreless and managed to hold them to 148 yards of total offense.</p><separator></separator><p>ASU held the Cougars to only 41 yards of offense in the first quarter. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/marshall_cameron00.htm… Marshall</a> capped off a 15 play, 76 yard drive midway through the quarter with a seven yard touchdown run. After forcing yet another three and out, ASU again moved 68 yards in four plays for another touchdown. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/threet_steven00.html">… Threet</a> hit <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/miles_jamal00.html">Ja… Miles</a> for a nine yard pass putting the Devils up by 14.</p><separator></separator><p>ASU continued to dominate in the second quarter with an 11-play, 83-yard drive over 3:49 to go up by three touchdowns. This time <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lewis_deantre00.html">… Lewis</a> finished the drive with a three yard run.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/threet_steven00.html">… Threet</a> again hit <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/miles_jamal00.html">Ja… Miles</a> for an 18 yard touchdown pass with seconds left in the half. The Devils led 28-0 at halftime.</p><separator></separator><p>Receiving the ball in the second half, the Sun Devils moved 80 yards in six plays in just over two minutes to score their fifth touchdown of the game. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/threet_steven00.html">… Threet</a> completed his third touchdown pass to <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lewis_deantre00.html">… Lewis</a> to lead 35-0.</p><separator></separator><p>Second string quarterback Brock Osweiller replaced <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/threet_steven00.html">… Threet</a> midway through the third quarter and led the Devils to a 42-0 lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/middlebrooks_kyle00.ht… Middlebrooks</a> rushed 10 yards for the score, capping off a nine-play, 41-yard drive. Osweiler was 6-11, throwing for 75 yards.</p><separator></separator><p>A few attempts by the Cougars to put points on the scoreboard fell short in the fourth quarter, including a fumbled snap on a field goal attempt, but the Sun Devil defense was too much for the Washington State offense, holding them to only eight rushing yards on 33 attempts.</p><separator></separator><p>"I thought Arizona State played a very good game. Offensively, this was probably the best they've played all year" commented WSU coach Paul Wulff. "They were in sync and played good. We couldn't force anything and we couldn't make plays."</p><separator></separator><p>The Sun Devils travel to USC on Saturday, November 6 to take on the Trojans.
