Alumni chapters host nationwide 'shadow runs' in conjunction with Pat's Run
Twenty-one ASU alumni groups across the United States will host “shadow runs” in conjunction with Pat’s Run in Tempe on Saturday, April 16. The shadow runs are community-oriented, casual affairs hosted by local chapters of the ASU Alumni Association.
“ASU alumni across the country want to be a part of this inspiring event that honors the legacy of a Sun Devil,” said Alissa Pierson, ASU Alumni Association Associate Executive Director. “By hosting shadow runs in their communities, they can connect and engage with other ASU alums as well as anyone who wants to pay tribute to Pat Tillman and the sacrifice he made for our country.”
This marks the third year the Alumni Association has partnered with the Pat Tillman Foundation to provide an opportunity for ASU supporters nationwide to honor the legacy of the late Pat Tillman, the former ASU Sun Devils and Arizona Cardinals football player. Pat’s Run was created in 2005 as a fundraiser for the Pat Tillman Foundation, which was formed after Tillman’s death in 2004.
The 4.2-mile run/walk is the foundation’s signature event and attracted more than 30,000 participants last year. Proceeds from Pat’s Run support the organization’s Tillman Military Scholars program.
Pat’s Run Shadow Runs will be held in cities across the country, including Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. For a complete list of cities hosting shadow runs in conjunction with Pat’s Run, go to http://pattillmanfoundation.org/pats-run/race-info/shadow-runs/.
