Alumni Association celebrates Class of '09 at Grad Blast
The ASU Alumni Association will celebrate the university’s graduating underclassmen one last time on Thursday, April 23, when it will host a “Grad Blast” party from 4 to 6 p.m. on Old Main Lawn at ASU’s Tempe campus.
The event, which had more than 300 participants in 2008, is expected to draw nearly 1,000 seniors this year. It will feature music, free food and beverages, prizes and giveaways, and chances to test one’s mettle by learning trapeze with the instructors from TrapezeU, by competing in sumo wrestling and jousting events or by taking on a rock-climbing wall. Graduates-to-be will be able to remember the day by visiting an on-site photo booth or a caricature sketch artist and will have a chance to pose with ASU’s beloved mascot, Sparky.
Alumni representing Alumni Association chapters from coast to coast will offer networking advice to event attendees and vendors including Verizon, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Jobing.com, Josten’s, ASU Foundation, ASU Intercollegiate Athletics and others will also have tables at the event.
The event is the capstone of the Alumni Association’s Senior Year Experience program, which provides ASU seniors with information, programs and networking opportunities designed to smooth the transition from college to the working world.
