Alum, fitness guru Chris Powell to visit ASU on Sept. 6

Arizona State University alumnus and fitness guru Chris Powell is coming to the Tempe and West campuses on Sept. 6 to promote the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Powell is partnering with the Sun Devil Fitness program to launch the Commit to be Fit Challenge, a program that connects selected participants with personal training, nutrition counseling, group fitness classes, mindfulness classes and cooking classes over the course of eight weeks.

At 3 p.m. in the Tempe Sun Devil Fitness Complex, Powell will be hosting a special discussion to share his keys to success. Later that evening, members of the West campus will be treated to a talk with the star at 7 p.m. in the La Sala Ballroom of the University Center Building. The Tempe speech will also be live streamed via the ASU Facebook page.

This event is just one of many happening during Wellness Week, Sept. 2-6., at all four campuses. Students, faculty and staff may attend sessions on stress relief techniques, nutrition, wellness and more.

Those interested in applying to the Commit to be Fit program may do so by visiting the Well Devils website.

Note for media: Interviews will begin at 2 p.m. in the Sun Devil Fitness Complex at the Tempe campus. Parking is available behind the Sun Devil Fitness Complex near the bike co-op. To access, use Mill Ave and turn onto Apache Boulevard. Rural Road is currently under construction.
