Abdala to play for ITA West Region Singles Championship

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Nadia Abdala stepped up again on Sunday as she entered the semifinal round of the 2007 ITA West Region Championships, where she topped the tournament's No. 10 seed, USC's Amanda Fink in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the finals. Abdala will face the tournament's No. 9 seed, UNLV's Elena Gantcheva tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at San Diego State University.

In other action Nadia Abdala paired up with sister Laila to enter the doubles semifinal round where they topped the No. 1 seed, UCLA's 1 Zalameda/Schnack duo to advance to the finals. The Devil duo faced off against the No. 6 seed, USC's Fink/Niculescu pair where they finally lost a well fought 9-7 match to give the Women of Troy the title.

Nadia Abdala will return to the courts tomorrow to face-off in the singles championship final at 10 a.m.
