2007-2008 ASU U-Passes now available

ASU Parking and Transit Services is now distributing the 2007-2008 ASU U-Passes. The U-Pass, which grants unlimited access on all Valley Metro bus routes, is available for free to all ASU students, faculty and staff.

ASU U-Passes can be picked up at Parking and Transit Services offices at all four campuses. A valid ASU Sun Card is required to obtain a U-Pass.

PTS officials also have announced that the effective dates of the 2007-2008 U-Pass have been extended to include the entire academic year. The new U-Pass will be valid from June 1 of this year to June 30, 2008, enabling ASU community members to enjoy the benefits of a free bus ride without having to obtain a new card at the start of each semester.

The current U-Pass is valid through May 31. ASU students, faculty and staff should continue to use their current U-Passes until that date.

There is a $25 replacement fee for lost or stolen U-Passes.

Since its inception in July 2005, the U-Pass program has been an enormous success. More than 14,000 U-Passes were distributed during the spring semester, which helped ASU become the single largest mass transit user in Maricopa County. U-Pass users helped prevent 176 tons of pollution and saved more that $1,114,000 in fuel costs by using mass transit last year.

The U-Pass program also recently received the 2007 President's Award for Innovation, which recognizes ASU employees for improving educational or administrative processes through a creative approach.
