Patel named to Clinical Research Review Committee


Vimla Patel, professor and vice chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics in the School of Computing and Informatics, has been named to the Clinical Research Review Committee of the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR).

The committee serves as an advisory panel for the NCRR director and the director of the National Institutes of Health. The members do preliminary review of applications for support of the Clinical Research Program, survey the status of clinical research and advise the NCRR on program development matters, evaluate the productivity of research centers and make recommendations on applications assigned to the National Advisory Research Resources Council. 

According to the NCRR director, Patel was chosen for the committee “because of your demonstrated competence and achievements in your scientific discipline as evidenced by your research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors.” Patel will serve on the committee through June 2009.
