The Law and Society Association recently introduced Arizona State University Professor Rebecca Sandefur as editor of their flagship publication Law and Society Review

Founded in 1966, the Review is regarded by sociolegal scholars in the United States and other countries as the leading journal in the field. It is one of the world’s premier peer-reviewed sociolegal journals, publishing cutting-edge research bearing on the relationship between society and law, legal institutions and legal processes.

Sandefur is a professor of sociology in the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics and was named distinguished MacArthur Fellow in 2018 for her work on inequality and access to justice.

She sees the Review as a crucial mechanism for sharing the important work being done by sociolegal scholars around the globe.

“The research published in the Review bridges the social sciences and law, making key scholarly contributions to many fields. It is also research that matters,” Sandefur said.

“The issue released this month includes articles about the responses of indigenous communities to climate change, sexual assault in the military, and ordinary people’s interactions with the police. This work contributes not just to core scholarly conversations, but to public and practical conversations about important issues we confront today.”
