ASU online electrical engineering master’s program ranks #1 in nation

U.S. News & World Report has named the online master’s degree in electrical engineering at Arizona State University as No. 1 in the country in that specialty for Best Online Engineering Programs in 2020. Distance learners enrolled in the program have online access to the same courses and world-class faculty as on-campus students.

The online master’s degree in electrical engineering at Arizona State University is No. 1 in the country in that specialty for 2020 Best Online Engineering Programs according to peer-reviewed rankings in U.S. News & World Report, a recognized leader in university rankings.

The program — the first in the world to offer an ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree recognized as 100% online — is part of the ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. It is one of 18 online degree programs available to students through the Fulton Schools of Engineering.

“The ranking is validation of our approach to build online access to our highly ranked campus-based experience with the same faculty and academic rigor for qualified students,” said Stephen Phillips, who directs the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, one of the six Fulton Schools.

ASU has long been known for producing high-quality, career-ready graduates. Today more than 7,000 students worldwide are enrolled in ASU’s online engineering courses.

“We are committed to delivering engineering, computing and technology programs that are not only of the highest quality, but are accessible to anyone with the desire to learn and increase their knowledge,” said Kyle Squires, dean of the Fulton Schools of Engineering. “Through our immersive digital offerings, we are creating a unique educational experience that enables our faculty and students to make unprecedented impacts.”

The distance learners enrolled in ASU’s online engineering courses are taught by the same world-class faculty members who are revolutionizing engineering education, conducting use-inspired research and developing solutions across the ASU campuses. Online students also have access to advising, career guidance, financial aid resources and tutoring services via ASU’s interactive educational platforms. 

Ranked No. 13 overall in online engineering master’s programs, the Fulton Schools of Engineering is highly regarded among experts and remains an engineering education leader.

Another way the Fulton Schools of Engineering is leading innovation is by providing opportunities not only for degree-seeking students, but by supporting members of the professional workforce through the workforce development and enrichment programs.

“Current trends suggest that people are looking to gain additional skills as they prepare for the jobs and opportunities in the future,” said Jeff Goss, assistant dean and executive director of Global Outreach and Extended Education at ASU. “We are building stackable credentials that prepare today’s workforce to integrate their skills with the new technologies that will power the future.”
