ASU School of Music alum returns to her roots

Lauren Scott, a graduate of Arizona State University's School of Music in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, is teaching students at the same place where she learned as a child.

Earlier this fall Scott, joined the Kyrene School District in the Tempe area. She teaches elementary music at Kyrene del Norte and C.I. Waggoner Elementary School. At Kyrene Traditional Academy – Sureno Campus, she teaches middle school drama and Spanish. Scott attended schools in the district from second through eighth grades.

“This community is incredible in so many ways,” Scott said. “It is an honor to work alongside my teachers and mentors. I am grateful every day for this opportunity.”

Scott, who graduated in 2016, studied music education and dance. While at ASU, she performed with several extracurricular and independent ensembles, including Grey Box Collective, The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps, Desert Echoes Flute Project and Breakthrough Indoor Percussion.
