Zach Wiggins

Zach Wiggins, a Doctor of Musicology student in the School of Music, is the recipient of a $1,000 award from the Morroe Berger—Benny Carter Jazz Research Fund in the Institute of Jazz Studies at Rutgers University.

Wiggins will work with materials in the Teo Macero Collection, studying scores and documents related to Orlando DiGirolamo, a jazz accordionist that worked with Macero on several projects. “I"’'ve always been interested in the accordion and jazz and thought that DiGirolamo’s playing added a lot to Macero’'s compositions,”" says Wiggins.

“"I’'m just beginning the Ph.D. in Musicology program at Arizona State University, and I am certain that the experience will provide some real world archival experience for me, as well as being invaluable for my development as a scholar," says Wiggins.
