Julie Link

Julie Link earned her Bachelor of Music in bassoon performance from the Arizona State University School of Music in May 2009. She has received a Fulbright grant for music study in Zurich, Switzerland beginning in September 2011.

Established in 1946, The Fulbright U.S. Student Program aims to increase mutual understanding between people of the United States and the people of more than 150 countries that currently participate in the Fulbright Program.

Link will use her grant to explore performance standards and expectations for audition processes used by orchestras in Europe. As part of the Fulbright grant, Link will attend the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste for bassoon studies with Matthias Rácz, principal bassoonist of the Tonhalle Orchester. After studying orchestral audition systems in Europe, Link hopes to improve communication on audition methods used by orchestras around the world. As a country with high standards in music and respect for educators, Switzerland is the optimal location to begin this Fulbright grant.

Originally from Plano, Texas, Link studied with Albie Micklich and Jeffrey Lyman while she was a student at ASU. She is currently a second year graduate student at the Cleveland Institute of Music where she studies with Barrick Stees.
