Emily Rozanski

July 01, 2015
Emily Rozanski, a Doctor of Musical Arts in performance student and tenor trombone player in the School of Music, was selected to play with the American Wind Symphony Orchestra this summer. Now in its 58th year, the orchestra, also known as the “Barge Band”,– is unique because it performs all of its concerts on a large floating vessel while traveling down waterways throughout the U.S., the Caribbean and Northern Europe. This summer the group will perform on rivers from West Virginia to Ohio.

"“I'm really excited to perform on a boat and have this new experience and adventure,"” says Rozanski. “"From what I have read, the audience really enjoys the concerts of the American Wind Symphony, which will make it even better. Performing for an enthusiastic audience is so much fun!”"

Rozanski says she is also looking forward to seeing a new part of the country and meeting new people, including her fellow orchestra members and the host families with whom she will stay.

“"This is my first job playing in an orchestra for an extended period of time,”" says Rozanski. "“I hope to learn what it is like to be a professional musician who is expected to be prepared to perform concerts more often than in a school setting.”"
