Music for Tots holds registration for summer program

Registration is under way for the Herberger College of Fine Arts School of Music Piano Preparatory/Conservatory Program's Music for Tots summer sessions, which begin June 10. Registration deadline is May 24.

The summer version has the same quality curriculum as the fall and spring programs, but in a mini series format. Youngsters can sign up for one or both sessions. Classes are held at Mitchell Park School in Tempe at 900 South Mitchell. Music for Tots uses the Kindermusik Series, which allows the whole child to develop through the introduction of musical concepts that are designed to enhance the child's daily life. This is achieved by focusing on beat, listening skills, singing, speech patterns, purposeful movement, imagination and social skills. The program offers classes by three age groupings with age appropriate home materials. Session A is June 10-27. Session B is July 15-Aug. 1. Youngsters may sign up for either session or both.

Music for Tiny Tots is for ages 18 months to 3 and their parents/caregivers and provides a child’s first musical exploration in a social environment. Each session is $40, plus $45 for required materials. Each session meets twice a week, with classes available Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

Growing with Music is for ages 3 to 4 years and serves as catalyst for music fun. Each session is $60, plus $30 for required materials. Classes meet Mondays and Wednesday from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Music for Tots is for ages 4 _ to 5 _ years. It provides continuing reinforcement of music concepts with fun activities and quality materials. Each session is $65, plus $35 for required materials. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon.
