Last chance! Dance semester wraps up with The Last Concert


ASU’s Herberger College Department of Dance presents The Last Concert, the final performance of this semester. Part of the department’s Scholarship Series, all proceeds from this concert go toward funding and awarding scholarship money to undergraduate and graduate students.

WHAT: The Last Concert, a concert of 10 diverse and engaging pieces of choreography that span the spectrum from contemporary modern to Chinese fan dancing. They are choreographed and performed by a mix of faculty, undergraduate and graduate students. The works include faculty member Melissa Rolnick’s solo, the third piece in a trilogy entitled “SHE,” and an intriguingly bizarre group piece choreographed by graduate student Min Kim, entitled “White Socks.”

The concert’s choreographers are:
· Larry Caves, faculty associate; a group piece
· Cliff Keuter, faculty; two dancers and a flute player
· LaShonda Williams, undergraduate student; group piece
· Min Kim, graduate student; one duet and one group piece
· Casey Blake, graduate student; group piece
· Melissa Rolnick, faculty; solo
· Ying Yang, graduate student; group piece
· Rosa Lina Lima-de Jesus, graduate student; solo
· Siew Wong, graduate student; solo

WHEN: Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 7:30 p.m.; there is a special preview performance at 4 p.m.

WHERE: Dance Theatre, PE East 132, 551 E. Orange St. on the ASU campus in Tempe.

COST: $10 general, $5 students.

The Herberger College dance department is nationally ranked in the top 10 by Dance Teacher Now magazine. Its graduate program is ranked fifth and its undergraduate program is ranked ninth. The ARCO Performance Arts College Guide calls the department one of the “most highly recommended programs” in the country.
