Jennifer Armstrong named ‘emerging leader,’ appointed to national arts panel

TEMPE, Ariz. - Jennifer Armstrong will serve on the Emerging Leaders panel of Open Dialogue IX, a national symposium on cultural diversity in the arts, hosted by the American Association of Cultures, July 18-20, 2003, in San Jose, California.

The panel brings leaders from across the country to discuss national policy involving people of color in the arts.

Armstrong, of Tempe, is program coordinator for the Department of Dance in the Herberger College of Fine Arts at Arizona State University.

She now serves as vice chair on Americans for the Arts’ Emerging Leader Task Force.

The department of dance is nationally ranked in the top 10 by Dance Teacher Now magazine. Its graduate program is ranked fifth and its undergraduate program is ranked ninth. The ARCO Performance Arts College Guide calls the department one of the "most highly recommended programs" in the country.
