Herberger College of Fine Arts offers dance classes for children


WHAT: The Herberger College of Fine Arts Department of Dance at Arizona State University invites children ages 4-12 to explore the creative world of dance through a series of Friday afternoon classes.

Students will work with experienced teachers and dance education students in a one-of-a-kind enrichment experience.

The session entitled “K’Motion” is designed for children ages 4-6. Students will explore creative dance through integrative projects including, Cool Space: adventures in the solar system; Flutter-Buzzer: life of a bumble bee; and Hop-Jump: seeing the world as a frog.

The session entitled “Moving Inventors ” is designed for children ages 7-12. Students will explore a variety of dance including creative movement, motif writing, hip-hop for kids and 3-D action sculpture. \

WHEN: The classes begin Friday, Feb. 21 and meet for 12 weeks through May 16. For K’Motion, children ages 4-6 meet 2:30-3:20 p.m. For Moving Inventors, ages 7-12 meet 3:45-4:45 p.m.
WHERE: Classes will be held in the state-of-the-art facilities of ASU’s Physical Education Building East, Room 190, on the ASU campus in Tempe. Metered parking is available just outside the dance studio.
HOW MUCH: Tuition is $110 for a 12-week session.
