Photography exhibition focuses on Guadalupe

Texas native Monica Hurtado grew up a mile from the US-Mexico border, and her experience of the duality of cultures drew her as a photographer to the town of Guadalupe when she moved to the Valley. Her MFA exhibition at the Herberger College's Northlight Gallery runs April 7-17, with a free public reception at 7 p.m., April 7. Hurtado says her photographs of Guadalupe, its people and events are about the traditions one experiences growing up, from church to Pinatas, from love to death.

Northlight Gallery is located in Matthews Hall, ASU main campus, Tempe (southeast corner of Tyler and Forest malls.) Admission is free. Gallery Hours are: Sunday from 12:30-4:30 p.m., Monday from 7-9 p.m., Tuesday -Thursday from 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
