Industrial design senior Joleen Jansen, from The Design School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at ASU, is the winner of the 2014 Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Western District Merit Award.

Jansen presented her industrial design student portfolio at the IDSA conference in Denver on April 5, 2014, along with the Merit Award winners from each of the industrial design programs in the district. The jury's decision was announced at the conclusion of the conference.

As the 2014 IDSA Western District Merit Award winner, Jansen will represent ASU and the entire Western District at the IDSA International Conference and Education Symposium in Austin, Texas, Aug. 13-16, 2014.

Jansen was selected as IDSA Merit Award winner from ASU at a juried presentation on March 25 in The Design School. Seven nominees from the graduating class presented their portfolios of student work to a jury of industrial design practitioners, as well as an
overflow crowd of students and faculty, for the opportunity to earn the single Merit Award that IDSA offers each school. To be nominated for the award is an honor, and all nominees are to be congratulated.
