Exhibit presents human aspect of migrants’ deaths, science behind their IDs

The current exhibit in Arizona State University’s Innovation Gallery is the subject of a feature in the Oct. 7, edition of the East Valley Tribune.

“Speaking for the Dead: Exploring Forensic Anthropology” looks at migrant deaths in the Arizona desert. It uses art to convey the hopes and dangers of border crossings and hands-on activities and displays relating to forensic anthropology to illustrate how clues found in bones can help identify nameless victims.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 30. Admission is free.

The Innovation Gallery is part of the Center for Archaeology and Society and is located in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change Building on the Tempe campus. It is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, but is closed Tuesday, Oct. 13, for fall break.
